Singing the Blues

And the winner is… blue!  I appreciate your votes and comments.  My Norwegian friend, Margitta, from White as Linen reminded me of this post from the Milk and Honey blog.  The gist of it was that exterior and interior colors should coincide.

I snatched this image a while ago from the Sea Cottage blog.  I filed it away as the image that most expresses the pallet I desire for my home.  Do you see a speck of coral red?  Nope.  Blue and Green?  Yes.

After three different stores, a plethora of blue paint chips and three painted-on samples, I settled upon “Laughing Eyes” by Ace.

Don’t you love the name?  It is the perfect mix for the door… not too blue, not too green, not too light, not too dark.  Just right.  We think!

  1. Love it! I aspire to the same mantra; there is a continuity that starts with the exterior and continues inside. Our front door is a sort of sky blue, and we love it. I have no doubt that your home will be drop-dead gorgeous no matter what, anyway!

  6. So where's the picture of the door all painted?! ;) Keeping us in suspense!
Pretty color you chose. I like that concept that the exterior should flow with the interior. I love red front doors; white houses with black shutters and red front doors and that is exactly what I have. Red is my favorite color and I have little accents of it in almost every room of my house. The door to our basement is even painted the same color as the front door. Guess I managed the continuity without even thinking about it! :)

  8. I think it will be beautiful. And that's a really good point about the exterior reflecting the interior - I am definitely not there, but this reminds to me to have a more focused vision. :) Thank you!
